Topics

• Book Talk with Power Point about the writing process, inspiration, and research.
• Memoir Writing Workshop: Joan Didion called them shimmers. Emerson called them gleams. In this writing workshop, we’ll write from prompts to “excavate” our lives for those writing gems. What we start in this workshop will likely be the seeds to bigger projects. The idea here is to leave with a stockpile of material.
• Writing for Young Adults. With writing prompts, guidelines, and other materials, we’ll spend time getting back our “Inner YA.” This is not child’s play. We will work on writing about trauma and the most difficult things young adults face today.
• Flash Fiction and Flash Non-Fiction Writing Workshop. We’ll read samples and talk about what editors are looking for. With writing prompts and guidelines, we will write.
